Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a stable, non-toxic and water-soluble polymer supplied as white or yellowish granules or powder. It offers excellent film formation, adhesion, solvent resistance, abrasion resistance, tensile strength and oxygen-barrier performance. With both hydrophilic and hydrophobic functional groups, PVA can act as a surfactant and as a protective colloid in polymer emulsification and suspension polymerization.
